Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist
Job Description
- Provide quality patient care with intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed.
- Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
- Explain treatments, tests, and equipment to patients; provide education upon discharge.
- Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
- Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
- Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography.
- Review chest x-rays for further evaluation needs.
- Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
- Conduct pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC).
- Assist with respiratory procedures (bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, tracheostomy care).
- Perform arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency.
- Follow laboratory testing policies for specimen handling and quality control.
- Perform CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free hand or video laryngoscope.
- Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment.
- Facilitate equipment maintenance and repair.
- Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
- Communicate with physicians regarding therapy effectiveness.
- Report information during shift hand-offs.
- Maintain accurate respiratory therapy billing and data entry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure
- BLS certification prior to first shift
- ACLS certification prior to first shift
- Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience
