Schedule:
Day Shifts – 12.5 hours
6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
Every other weekend and holiday rotation
Unpaid 30-minute meal break
No on-call

Setting:
78-bed general hospital – Geriatric Psychiatric Unit

Position Overview:
Seeking a Behavioral Health RN to provide comprehensive care for geriatric adults with complex medical and psychiatric comorbidities. Ideal candidates will have experience in both medical-surgical and psychiatric nursing, capable of managing high-acuity patients and facilitating therapeutic interventions.

Patient Population:

• Depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder
• Geriatric patients with multiple medical comorbidities
• Total care patients requiring close monitoring

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care for patients with psychiatric and medical needs
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and treatment planning
• Manage patients under voluntary and involuntary status
• Administer medications and monitor responses
• Implement safety protocols including restraints and seclusion as necessary
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for patient-centered care

Requirements:

• Active Connecticut RN License
• Minimum 2 years psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS required
• CPI or CMT certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of behavioral health experience
• Experience with geriatric and dementia care
• Background in med/surg nursing helpful

Additional Details:

• High-acuity geriatric psychiatric unit
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• 12.5-hour day shifts
