Boston, MA
Start Date: 04/20/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Monday–Friday
Shift: Days (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support a busy optometry practice. This role involves preparing patients for exams, performing diagnostic testing, and ensuring efficient patient flow while supporting providers in delivering high-quality eye care.
Responsibilities:
- Escort patients and obtain detailed ocular and medical histories
- Perform visual acuity testing and refractions
- Measure intraocular pressure using tonopen and applanation
- Administer eye drops and prepare patients for exams
- Conduct diagnostic testing including visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, autorefraction, A/B scans, lensometry, and topography
- Monitor provider schedules and manage patient flow
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Stock exam rooms and maintain/clean equipment
- Assist with training and ongoing education initiatives
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certification required: COA, COT, or COMT (JCAHPO)
- Minimum 1 year of ophthalmic/optometry experience
- Strong clinical and patient care skills
Preferred:
- Completion of an accredited ophthalmic training program
- Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment
