Travel Ophthalmic Technician – Optometry
Boston, MA
Start Date: 04/20/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Monday–Friday
Shift: Days (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support a busy optometry practice. This role involves preparing patients for exams, performing diagnostic testing, and ensuring efficient patient flow while supporting providers in delivering high-quality eye care.

Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients and obtain detailed ocular and medical histories
  • Perform visual acuity testing and refractions
  • Measure intraocular pressure using tonopen and applanation
  • Administer eye drops and prepare patients for exams
  • Conduct diagnostic testing including visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, autorefraction, A/B scans, lensometry, and topography
  • Monitor provider schedules and manage patient flow
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Stock exam rooms and maintain/clean equipment
  • Assist with training and ongoing education initiatives

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification required: COA, COT, or COMT (JCAHPO)
  • Minimum 1 year of ophthalmic/optometry experience
  • Strong clinical and patient care skills

Preferred:

  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic training program
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment
