Registered Nurse - Oncology (Hematology/Oncology)

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Specialty: RN Oncology - Hematology/Oncology


Job Summary

Provide nursing care to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision in a hospital setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage care for an assigned group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtain and monitor patients’ physiological data; observe and intervene as necessary.
  • Administer prescribed medications.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver competent patient care.
  • Communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
  • Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain good working relationships.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or higher) from a board-approved program.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
