Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky

Job Summary
A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The role includes mentoring and precepting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
- Make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
- Function as a mentor and preceptor.
- Encourage teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.
Education
- Nursing Diploma OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN).
Certifications & Licensure
- Registered Nurse license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
