Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Madison, Indiana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while supervising licensed and non-licensed staff. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, patient education, and mentoring/precepting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, and implement plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to staff, mentor and precept team members, and promote teamwork.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Recognize complex patient data to determine care priorities, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Collaborate with patients and families to plan care, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
- Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Current certifications in:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- STABLE (post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care of sick infants)
- Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Acute Care experience
