Job Opportunity: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic - Adult
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse (Direct Care)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Under general supervision, provides nursing care to adult patients receiving oncology infusion treatments. Responsibilities include:
- Administering chemotherapy drugs, PO and SC injections, and other medications as ordered by physicians.
- Consulting with medical personnel and providing expert information about chemotherapy and side effects.
- Documenting patient responses and changes in physician orders.
- Assisting physicians during conscious sedation and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitoring physiological data and intervening as necessary.
- Initiating, regulating, and monitoring intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivering competent patient care and communicating care plans to patients and families.
- Providing chemotherapy-related education and answering patient/family inquiries.
- Coordinating patient follow-up activities and referrals.
- Delegating tasks to support staff as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
- Minimum of 1 year of infusion nursing experience, including infusion experience within the last year.
- Oncology nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration certification.
- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.
