Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby
Location: Madison, Indiana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, every other weekend
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby, you will provide safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans, supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, and promoting quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. You will also mentor and precept staff, participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks and function as a mentor/preceptor to staff.
- Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement, and practice governance.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- STABLE certification
- Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system.
