Job Summary

• Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
• Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
• Applies evidence-based practice and education within a Practice Governance framework.
• Uses the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Provides patient and family education, comfort, and satisfaction.
• Mentors and precepts staff members.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
• Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized plans of care.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Facilitate and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
• Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), with PACU experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Acute care nursing experience.

Shift and Hours

• Shift: Mid shift, 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM, 3 days per week.
• Hours per day: 12
• Hours per week: 36
• On-call: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, limited to no more than 3 times in a 6-week schedule.
• Weekend on-call rotation: no more than one weekend per 6-week schedule.
• Holiday on-call: no more than one holiday per contract period.
• Weekend shifts rotate between 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM on-call.
