Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Emergency Department.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Assist in maintaining a financially stable unit.
- Promote professional development emphasizing evidence-based practice and education.
- Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Apply the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Focus on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
- Mentor and precept staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
- Make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Utilize resources appropriately to support patient and organizational needs.
- Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
- Facilitate teamwork and mentor staff.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute Care experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
