RN Surgical Specialty

Location

• Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts

Role Overview

• Hospital-based nursing care for patients with a range of health problems
• Assigned to a mixed medical-surgical and stepdown surgical transplant unit
• May work either medical-surgical or stepdown patients depending on staffing and acuity

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Stepdown experience
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• Transplant experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• ENT experience
• Transplant experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program
• Preceptor experience
• Charge experience

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses and changes in physician orders
• Assist with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitor patient data and intervene when needed
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products
• Communicate care plans and discharge information to patients and families
• Make referrals for patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff
