Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (Long-Term Assignment)

Work Schedule & Environment

• Rotating shifts: Four 10-hour shifts per week (0900-1900 or 1000-2000), flexible based on OR volume
• Call requirements: 1-2 weeknight calls and every 4th weekend on call, rotating with regular staff
• Holiday call hours apply
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
• Robotic surgery experience preferred
• Scrub nurse experience helpful
• Prior travel nurse experience preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Credentials & Compliance for Onboarding

• Licenses & Verification:

  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired and address must match records)

• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association) required
  • Fit Test (3M 1860 Regular, 1860 Small, or 1870+ masks) preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella: documented proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted

• Health & Drug Screening:

  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing for TB with required follow-up and annual TB questionnaire
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

• Testing & Competency:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score
  • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension Specialty Exam demonstrating competency in surgical nursing with minimum 80% or national benchmark
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out with training checklist and signed attestation
  • Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually

• Professional Requirements:

  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender registry
  • Employment verification for past seven years
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
  • Completion of Ascension onboarding requirements and education attestations
  • Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)

Additional Notes

• Completion of all required documentation and verifications is mandatory prior to assignment start
• Some onboarding and training modules are completed onsite
• Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on department needs

This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses with robotic and scrub nurse skills who are comfortable with rotating shifts and call responsibilities in a surgical setting.
