Job Opportunity: RN Step Down - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Position Details
- Specialty: RN Step Down
- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit Description: Acuity Adaptable Unit (includes Medical/Surgical, Intermediate Care, and ICU patients; not a pure ICU unit)
- Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) or as needed; Every Other Hour (EOH) or as needed
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC
- Additional Notes: May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
Required Credentials and Certifications
Licenses & Verification
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and match address on file)
- Resume/Profile submission required
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
Certifications (Must be AHA approved)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years)
Health & Immunizations
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing prior to start; TB questionnaire updated annually
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; includes testing for 12 specified substances
Testing & Competencies
- Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score; max 2 attempts
- Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of at least 80%; max 2 attempts; must be updated to latest version prior to clearance
- Ascension Epic Test-Out: Epic test results and training checklist with signed attestation required
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years; minimum 80% or national benchmark; max 2 attempts
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually for specialty
Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: 6-hour pre-hire training with attestation
- Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations or filters
Background & Verification
- Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; completed within 30 days prior to first assignment; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check: Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work; completed within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Employment Verification: Past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
This position requires thorough credentialing and compliance with health and safety standards prior to assignment start.
