Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Key Requirements and Credentials

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS Certification: Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • MOAB Moderate Risk (De-Escalation Training): Required.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31). Exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history required; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination required.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.

Professional Documentation

  • Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; must be current within 30 days of assignment start and updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • Employment Verification: Past 7 years, updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work, completed within 90 days of start; must be rerun after breaks in service.
  • Signed Assignment Agreement: Required for onboarding (includes offer letter, initial confirmation, and extensions).
  • Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire modules and attestation required.
  • Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules: Required for non-allied positions prior to clearance.
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.

Health & Testing

  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; retesting required after breaks in service.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing before start; annual TB questionnaire required. Positive TB requires chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Optional but recommended.
  • Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.

Skills & Competency Testing

  • Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly. Minimum 80% score required with only two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%; two attempts allowed. Updated version required for clearance.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader within a week.

Identification

  • Driver's License/State ID: Must be current, match address on file, and show front/back. For compact licenses, address must match home state.

This position requires thorough credentialing, health screenings, and competency testing to ensure compliance with Ascension Health standards prior to and during the assignment.
