Travel RN Step Down Nurse Opportunity
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Specialty: RN Step Down (PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care)

Job Description
- Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Acute Care
- Placement on unit with greatest need (PCU, Med-Surg, or Tele unit) based on skills
- Accepts RN with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both)
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)
Required Health & Safety Credentials
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; completed within a year, updated yearly, minimum 80% score)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed)
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start (specific mask types required)
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray and annual TB Questionnaire (or Positive IGRA)
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within required timeframes
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Onboarding & Professional Requirements
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules)
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and test results required)
- Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others (completed within 30 days prior to first assignment, updated annually)
- EPLS check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills checklist, updated annually)
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation (updated with each extension)
- Employment Verification for past seven years (updated annually)
Additional Notes
- Must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to or at start of assignment
- Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs
- Compliance with all Ascension Health policies and credentialing requirements is mandatory
