Travel RN Medical/Surgical Position
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical/Surgical care.
- Assignment located in Wichita, Kansas.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
- Nursys Verification: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start. Disciplinary actions require additional documentation.
- Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly with a minimum 80% score.
- NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%, only two attempts allowed.
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training: Required.
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Required prior to start.
Onboarding & Training Requirements
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: 6 hours pre-hire training with attestation.
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
- Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Positive PPD/Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Required; must provide recent test results and questionnaire.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required within 30 days prior to start.
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; includes 12 specific drugs.
Professional & Background Requirements
- Driver's License/State ID: Must be current and valid; address must match licensing requirements.
- Ascension Profile (Resume): Required for submission.
- Professional References: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days of first assignment and updated annually.
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check: Completed within 90 days prior to start and rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Education Verification: Must be completed within 90 days prior to start; diplomas not accepted, official transcripts required if verification fails.
- Employment Verification: Third-party verification for past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Documentation of assignment dates required.
Optional / Additional
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding but must be uploaded within a week by unit leader.
- Hiring Manager Evaluation: Post-assignment evaluation (optional).
- Name Change Documentation: Legal documentation if applicable (optional).
