Job Opportunity: RN Step Down - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Acute Care.
- Placement will be on units with the greatest need, including PCU, Med-Surg, or Tele units.
- Candidates with Med-Surg or Stepdown RN experience are accepted (same credentialing for both).
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Wisconsin.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (must be AHA).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification (must be AHA).
- Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start.
- License and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
Additional Required Certifications & Training
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years).
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated every 3 years).
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group).
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years).
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation.
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding.
- Ascension Nova StatStrip training.
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (competency testing).
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within one year of start, updated annually).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit Test: Required annually; must be completed prior to or at start.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission.
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start.
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start.
- Education verification within 90 days of start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid).
Optional but Recommended
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding but must be uploaded within a week by unit leader).
- Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment).
- Legal documentation of name change (if applicable).
- Professional badge photo (white or blue background, no alterations).
Additional Notes
- Floating to other units or sites within 40 miles may be required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Must be able to complete all required onboarding and credentialing prior to or at assignment start.
