Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for Emergency Department (ED) patients, including boarded patients in the ED.
  • May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed.
  • Work schedule includes every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
  • Use of EPIC electronic health record system required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current RN license valid in Wisconsin.
  • BLS (AHA) certification required.
  • ACLS (AHA) certification required.
  • PALS (AHA) certification required.
  • TNCC certification (renewed every 4 years) required.
  • NIH Certification required (Group A yearly, Group B-F every 2 years).
  • CPI or MOAB (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, 8-hour course, updated every 2 years) required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
  • Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Documented proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within one year showing no infection, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+), updated annually.
  • Health statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Background & Screening

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other checks within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually or after breaks in service >90 days.
  • Drug screening: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually or after breaks in service >90 days.
  • Employment and education verifications required prior to start and updated annually or after breaks in service >90 days.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.

Competency & Testing

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out and Training Checklist required prior to start.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.

Additional Information

  • Must provide a valid driver's license/state ID matching home state for compact license purposes.
  • Resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
  • Post-assignment evaluations may be required.
  • Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background required.

This position offers a travel contract opportunity in a busy Emergency Room setting requiring strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with health and safety protocols.
