Job Opportunity: RN Step Down
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
- Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry units based on skills.
- Accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both).
- Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles if needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), including experience within the last year.
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Med-Surg Telemetry.
- Experience with Med-Surg / Telemetry units.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit test required prior to or at start (specific mask types required).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; positive results require chest X-ray and annual questionnaire.
- Varicella immunity proof or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
- Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Criminal background check including social security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Completion of specialty exams, core competencies, EKG exam, and color vision test as required.
- Completion of onboarding education attestations and pre-hire modules.
- Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background.
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and float to different units or nearby sites as needed.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in step-down, telemetry, or med-surg acute care who are comfortable working in a dynamic environment with floating responsibilities.
