Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Placement on a unit with the greatest need: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg), or Telemetry Step Down based on skills.
- Accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Step Down experience (same credentialing for both).
- Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
- Schedule includes every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry Acute Care.
- Current, active RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA required).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists demonstrating proficiency in the assigned specialty.
- Passing scores (minimum 80%) required on specialty and EKG exams, with limited attempts allowed.
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Required health screenings and immunizations:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
- Varicella immunity (two vaccines, serological evidence, or documented history; no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (mask required if declined).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual TB questionnaire; chest X-ray if positive.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (annual update required).
- Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and annually thereafter.
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Background checks including criminal history, social security trace, sex offender registry, and employment verification.
- Verification of education and professional references.
- Driver’s license or state ID matching address requirements.
Additional Notes
- Must complete onboarding modules and attestations prior to or at start.
- Epic electronic health record test-out and training checklist required.
- Badge photo with specific background requirements needed for onboarding.
- Some optional unit-specific checklists may be required by unit leadership after start.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in step down, telemetry, or med-surg acute care who are flexible and able to float between units and nearby sites.
