Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Job Description
- Telemetry background required (ability to read telemetry).
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.
- Prior travel nursing experience required.
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
- Nail policy: No artificial or acrylic nails; natural nails must be short (less than 1/4 inch).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Ascension EKG Exam.
- Ascension Epic Test-Out.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Testing and Competency
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Epic Test-Out: Completion of Epic training and test with signed attestation.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
Health and Immunizations
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IgG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
- Tuberculosis Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
Drug Screening and Background Checks
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start; updated annually or after break in service >90 days.
- EPLS check within 90 days prior to start; rerun if break in service >90 days.
Documentation and Verification
- Resume/Profile and at least two professional references required prior to submission.
- Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start.
- Employment verification for past seven years prior to start; updated annually or after break in service >90 days.
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations required.
- Health statement or physical exam completed prior to first assignment and updated annually.
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.
Additional Notes
- This position requires adherence to strict nail policies and the ability to float to other units or nearby sites as needed.
- All required exams and certifications must be maintained and updated according to specified intervals.
- Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory for this role.
