Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Location: Brookfield, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule
- Requires 2 years of full-time adult ICU experience
- Must be proficient with EPIC electronic health record system
- Prior travel experience is required
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of full-time ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with adult patients
- Prior travel nursing experience

Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile
- At least two professional references
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and 7-year employment and residence history (updated annually or after >90-day break in service)
- Employment verification for the past 7 years (updated annually or after >90-day break in service)
- Education verification relevant to clinical work (completed within 90 days of start; re-verification required after >90-day break)
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment (start/end dates must match system records)
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
Testing & Competency
- Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years (max 2 attempts)
- Core competencies exam covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years (max 2 attempts)
- EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years (max 2 attempts)
- Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually for specialty
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
Health & Immunizations
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- BLS, ACLS certifications must be current and AHA-approved
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually)
- Documentation of two MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer (no declinations accepted; if negative, two doses required four weeks apart)
- Documentation of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted; if negative, two doses required four weeks apart)
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (October 1 through March 31); declinations accepted with mask requirement
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, with chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire if positive
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter (includes amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, methadone, oxycodone, morphine, ecstasy)
Additional Notes
- May be required to float to other units or locations within 40 miles based on staffing needs
- All onboarding requirements must be completed prior to or at the start of the assignment
- Some optional documents and evaluations may be requested post-assignment or during onboarding but are not mandatory for initial placement
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with travel experience who are comfortable working night shifts and adapting to multiple clinical environments.
