Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
• Requires either:

  • 3+ years of Emergency Department (ED) experience with previous travel experience, or
  • More than 5 years of experience in a large ED without travel experience.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
• At least 3 years of total travel experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Completion of non-violent crisis intervention training (MOAB or CPI).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Onboarding and Testing Requirements

• Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
• Ascension Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
• Ascension EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
• Ascension Skills Checklist for specialty, completed within one year of start and updated annually.
• Completion of non-violent crisis intervention training (MOAB or CPI), updated every 2 years.
• Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding modules.
• Professional references: at least two required prior to first assignment.
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other screenings within 90 days of start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
• Employment and education verifications within 90 days of start; updated annually or after breaks in service.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is required unless the candidate has more than 5 years of large ED experience without travel.
• Floating to other units or locations within 40 miles may be required based on staffing needs.
• All certifications must be current and compliant with American Heart Association standards where applicable.

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable with travel assignments and floating within a regional area.
