Job Opportunity: RN ICU
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
- Preferred experience in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) and Neuro ICU, but not required.
- Will float to Neuro ICU and Burn ICU; patient assignments will be within skill set.
- May receive patient assignments in Med/Surg or Intermediate Care (IMC) if needed.
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (only 2 attempts allowed).
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score.
- Successful completion of EKG exam with at least 80% score (updated every 3 years).
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation required.
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, Small, or 1870+), updated annually.
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or history; no declinations accepted).
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry within 90 days prior to start.
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start.
- Driver’s license or state ID current and matching address requirements.
Additional Notes
- Onsite onboarding and pre-hire modules required.
- Must complete and submit professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
- May be required to provide signed assignment agreement and badge photo for onboarding.
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
This position offers a challenging ICU nursing role with opportunities to work across multiple critical care units and requires strong clinical competency and flexibility.
