Job Opportunity: RN Pediatric PACU/Pre-Op
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 07:00 AM – 03:30 PM
Job Description
- Provide care following aseptic sterile technique according to perioperative nursing standards (AORN/ASPAN).
- Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions.
- Manage patient pain effectively.
- Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures and pathophysiology.
- Includes floating between Pre-Op and PACU areas.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current driver's license
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years pediatric nursing experience.
- Previous PACU experience is required.
Additional Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics with passing scores.
- Completion of unit-specific and specialty skills checklists as required.
- Completion of health history and physical exam or statement of good health prior to assignment start, updated annually.
- Completion of required onboarding education attestations and modules prior to clearance.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Floating between Pre-Op and PACU is part of the assignment.
- Specialty competency exams and certifications must be updated every 3 years.
- Some optional onboarding documents and evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for assignment start.
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric PACU nurses seeking a structured long-term assignment with comprehensive support and clear credentialing requirements.
