Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Oneonta, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Profile

• Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• No night or weekend shifts required
• On-call from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday (1–2 times per week)
• No weekend or holiday coverage; facility closed on holidays
• Surgical volume: 15–30 cases per day, higher on cataract surgery days
• 6 ORs total, with up to 4 running daily
• Case variety includes:

  • General Surgery
  • Endoscopy (GI)
  • Plastics
  • Robotic DaVinci
  • Gynecology (GYN)
  • Urology
  • Orthopedic Total Joints/Sports
  • ENT
  • Cataracts
• Primarily elective procedures on generally healthy patients

RN Role Expectations

• Preference for RNs who can both scrub and circulate (not required)
• Orientation includes a preceptor for the first week to assess skills and provide support
• Skills reassessed in the second week to determine independence or need for continued support
