Job Description

  • Operate CT equipment (CT scanner, Power Injector, Laser Printer, Patient monitoring devices) to acquire diagnostic images for physician use.
  • Must have Level 1 trauma and Siemens CT experience.
  • Required to float among radiology clinics and divisions within Brigham & Women's Hospital as needed.
  • Prepare, position, immobilize patients, and use protective shielding as appropriate.
  • Select proper imaging factors and image designated body parts according to departmental protocols.
  • Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs while maintaining patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Deliver patient care within scope of license and training.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with hospital personnel including professional and nursing staff.
  • Calibrate and verify operation of equipment daily; report malfunctions.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and Radiology Information System functions (scheduling, exam completion, image transfer to PACS).
  • Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction, following hospital policies.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintain CEUs per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
  • May oversee and instruct personnel and students in medical radiography, CT, and nuclear medicine.
  • Prepare equipment room and supplies for patients and daily use; restock as needed.
  • Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible with shift coverage and overtime.
  • Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as required.
  • Transport and transfer patients according to departmental guidelines.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during patient exams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school.
  • Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Registered in CT by ARRT or equivalent; must maintain ARRT CT certification.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, with at least 1 year in cross-sectional anatomy courses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Analytical abilities to acquire and utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.

Required Credentials and Compliance

  • Current Massachusetts CT license and ARRT (CT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted).
  • Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
  • TB screening (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 months break.
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
  • Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, and exclusion checks.
  • Documentation of two measles, two mumps, and one rubella vaccine or proof of immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity strongly preferred.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) attestation.
  • Verification of highest education level.
  • Submission of recent professional references and skills checklist.
  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
  • Participation in departmental and hospital compliance and credentialing processes.

Additional Notes

  • Must submit a professional color photo (no selfies, no filters, plain background, no eyeglasses).
  • Must be flexible with shift rotations and locations within the hospital system.
  • Participation in quality improvement and research initiatives is expected.
  • May be required to instruct and oversee students and other personnel.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level 1 trauma center with advanced CT technology and a collaborative healthcare team.
