Description

CT Technologist - Boston, Massachusetts (Long-Term Assignment)

Position Overview

  • Operate CT equipment (Siemens experience required) to acquire diagnostic images for physician use.
  • Work under general supervision following established procedures.
  • Float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, positioning, immobilization, and use of protective shielding.
  • Select appropriate imaging factors and image designated body parts.
  • Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs.
  • Deliver patient care within scope of license and training.
  • Maintain effective communication with departmental and hospital personnel.
  • Calibrate and verify equipment operation daily; report malfunctions.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and Radiology Information System functions for each exam.
  • Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintain CEUs per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
  • May oversee and instruct personnel and students in medical radiography, CT, nuclear medicine.
  • Prepare equipment room and supplies; stock as needed.
  • Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible with shift coverage and overtime.
  • Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as required.
  • Transport and transfer patients per departmental guidelines.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during exams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school.
  • Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Registered in CT by ARRT or equivalent; must maintain ARRT CT certification.
  • 2-3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, with at least 1 year in cross-sectional anatomy courses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Analytical abilities to understand imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Credentials and Compliance (must be completed prior to or upon onboarding)

  • Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license verification (no conditional licenses).
  • ARRT certification verification.
  • BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted).
  • Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days, updated annually.
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
  • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break.
  • Physician health statement within 365 days, updated if >6 month break.
  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, including Massachusetts CORI.
  • Education verification of highest degree achieved.
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required).
  • Submission of a recent professional photo (color, plain background, no eyeglasses).
  • Submission of resume including past 7 years of work experience.
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above).
  • Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet.

Additional Information

  • Must be flexible with shift rotations and overtime.
  • May be required to provide on-call coverage.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continuing education.
  • May instruct and oversee students and other personnel.
  • Must maintain professional and ethical standards including patient confidentiality.

This position is suitable for CT Technologists licensed in Massachusetts with ARRT CT certification and experience in trauma and Siemens CT equipment. The role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and adherence to hospital policies and credentialing requirements.
