Description

Mammography Technologist II

Location: Foxboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 08:00 AM – 04:30 PM


Job Summary

Under direct supervision, perform specialized breast examinations to assist in diagnosing and treating breast disease in female patients. May conduct both screening and diagnostic mammography exams. This role involves patient care.


Essential Functions

  • Greet and prepare patients for mammography procedures.
  • Take verbal orders from physicians.
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic mammography studies.
  • Manage imaging outputs such as printing films or burning CDs, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Assist with departmental quality improvement programs.
  • Train new personnel and instruct Radiologic Technology students on positioning, technique, and image critique.
  • Complete patient record charting for mammogram services.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree in Radiology (mandatory).

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Mammography Technologist license in Massachusetts.
  • Registered Technologist (R.T.) credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with specialized mammography equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to comfort patients and families.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 35 lbs with assistance), carrying (20-35 lbs), balancing, reaching, and fine/gross manipulation.
  • Occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Rare climbing and crawling.
  • Constant use of vision (near and far), hearing, talking, and feeling.
  • Foot use is rare.

Health & Compliance Requirements (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)

  • Recent color photo (within 6 months) meeting specified criteria.
  • Documentation of immunizations or immunity for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).
  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if there is a break longer than 6 months.
  • Physician-signed health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break exceeds 6 months.
  • Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks completed within required timeframes.
  • Verification of professional licenses and certifications (primary source verification).
  • Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years of work experience.
  • Two professional references within the last 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
  • Completion of a skills checklist within 1 year of submission.
  • Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for any extensions.
