ICU RN (Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in a 20-bed Medical ICU (MICU) within a Level III Trauma Center.
• Patient population includes adults with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock.
• Attendings and Residents are present 24/7.
• Floating required to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients).
• EMR system used: EPIC.

Schedule

• Night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week.
• Every Other Weekend (EOW) required.
• Night shift does not rotate.
• Day shifts rotate between 7 AM-7 PM, 11 AM-11 PM, or 7 PM-7 AM when needed (not applicable for this night shift role).

Patient Ratios

• ICU: 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients.
• When floated to Med/Surg: 1:4 or 1:5.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 2 years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Experience working with adult patients.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Competency in reading telemetry strips and telemetry experience.
