Description

CT Technologist

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Day Shift (07:00 - 19:30)


Job Description

  • Operate CT equipment (CT scanner, Power Injector, Laser Printer, Patient monitoring devices) to acquire diagnostic images for physician use.
  • Required to float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.
  • Prepare patients properly for imaging: positioning, immobilization, and use of protective shielding.
  • Select appropriate imaging factors and image designated body parts.
  • Explain exams to patients, considering their physical and emotional needs while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Calibrate and verify equipment operation daily; report malfunctions.
  • Perform Radiology Information System tasks: scheduling, completing exams, transferring images.
  • Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction, following all policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and maintain continuing education units (CEUs) per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
  • May oversee and instruct radiography and technology students.
  • Prepare and stock equipment and supply rooms.
  • Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible for shift coverage and overtime.
  • Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as required.
  • Transport and transfer patients according to departmental guidelines.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during exams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CT Technologist.
  • Recent CT Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Registered Technologist (ARRT) certification.
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
  • Experience with Siemens CT equipment.

Credentials & Compliance Requirements (Must be completed prior to or upon onboarding)

  • Professional Credentials:

    • Current ARRT certification.
    • Valid Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license (no conditional licenses accepted).
    • Professional license and certification primary source verification within 30 days of start date.
    • Criminal background check, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry.
    • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid).
    • Education verification of highest degree achieved.
    • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
    • Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor.
    • Skills checklist completed within 1 year.
    • Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for extensions.
    • Badge photo meeting specific guidelines (color photo, plain background, no headwear or eyeglasses).
  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred).
  • Personal Health History:

    • Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
    • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (part of fit test record).
    • Documentation of MMR immunity (vaccines or blood test).
    • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
    • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months.
    • Positive PPD requires negative chest x-ray documentation (optional but recommended).
    • TB symptom survey if positive PPD (optional).

Additional Notes

  • Must be flexible to rotate among various departments and off-site clinics.
  • On-call and overtime coverage may be required.
  • Must maintain professional conduct and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • No onsite fit testing available; must be completed prior to start.
  • No religious or medical exemptions allowed for fit testing.
