Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Neuro Critical Care Unit
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Facility: KSWIC VC Hospitals (Ascension Health)

Position Overview
Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Critical Care Unit in an ICU setting. This is a long-term assignment with Ascension Health in Wichita, Kansas.
Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
- BLS (AHA): Required prior to start.
- ACLS (AHA): Required prior to start.
- NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
- CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion: Must be completed prior to start (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills or MOAB De-Escalation Course).
- CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion: Optional, completed at orientation.
Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
- Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
- Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender check; must be current within 30 days of assignment start.
- Employment Verification: For past 7 years, updated annually.
- Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work, completed within 90 days of start.
- Name Change Documentation: Optional.
- Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.
Testing & Competency Checklists
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Required prior to onboarding (includes Cerner test results and training checklist).
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist, completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Must be completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years; minimum 80% passing score.
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Must be completed with at least 80% passing score; updated as needed.
- Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire 6-hour nursing contingent worker onboarding.
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
- Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
Personal Health & Immunizations
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; flu season October 1 through March 31. Exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray & Annual TB Questionnaire: Required if positive TB test; otherwise, 2-step PPD or IGRA testing required prior to start.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually. Includes testing for 12 specified substances.
Identification
- Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, show front and back, and match address requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.
- Ascension EPLS: Must be run within 90 days of start and rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Criminal Background Check Results: Updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Employment Verification: Updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Education Verification: Must be rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Updated with each extension.
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
Summary
This is a 13-week ICU RN position in the Neuro Critical Care Unit at Ascension Health in Wichita, Kansas. Candidates must meet extensive credentialing, licensing, immunization, and competency requirements prior to and during assignment.
