Job Description

Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements

Submission Requirements (Must be submitted before consideration)

  • Current Nursing License with primary source verification (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Nursys license verification (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Resume/Profile (Ascension Resume and Profile)
  • Two professional references (qualifying, completed prior to first assignment)
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired, must match address on file)

Onboarding Requirements (Must be completed prior to or at start)

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
  • Health and Immunization Documentation:
    • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Influenza Vaccine: Optional, but if declined during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), mask required
    • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing and annual TB questionnaire required
    • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start (specific mask types required)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check, updated annually
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Education Verification: Relevant education verified within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Employment Verification: Past 7 years verified, updated annually
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates for extensions
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
  • Ascension Specialty Exam: Completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years, minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics completed within a year of start, updated yearly, minimum 80% score
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed, updated as required
  • Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
  • BLS Certification: Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
  • ACLS Certification: Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion: Completed prior to start (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire 6-hour onboarding module
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions

Optional Credentials

  • Influenza Vaccine Exemption/Declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional, uploaded by unit leader)

This is a 13-week contract for an RN ICU position in the Cardiothoracic ICU at an Ascension Health facility in Wichita, Kansas.
