Location: Wichita, Kansas
Facility: KSWIC VC Hospitals (Ascension Health)
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Requires specialized critical care nursing skills

Required Credentials & Compliance for Submission and Onboarding

Submission Requirements (Must be provided before submission)

  • Current Nursing License with primary source verification (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Nursys license verification (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Resume/Profile (Ascension Resume/Profile)
  • At least two professional references
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (not expired, matching address requirements)

Onboarding Requirements (Must be completed before or at start)

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
  • Health and Immunization Documentation:
    • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), mask required
    • TB Testing: 2 Step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray within 1 year required
    • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start; PAPR not done onsite
    • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Background and Employment Verification:
    • Criminal Background Check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check (within 30 days prior to start)
    • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
    • Employment Verification for past 7 years, updated annually
    • Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days prior to start)
  • Skills and Competency Assessments:
    • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
    • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
    • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
    • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated as required)
    • Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
  • Certifications (must be current and AHA approved where applicable):
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
    • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course prior to start)
  • Drug Screening:
    • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Onboarding Training and Documentation:
    • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
    • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (completion of pre-hire modules)
    • Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (for non-allied positions)
    • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (provided at initial assignment and updated with extensions)

Optional / Additional Information

  • Influenza vaccine exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire
  • On-site portion of CPI/MOAB High Risk training completed at orientation (optional)
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional, uploaded by unit leader)
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation and Name Change Documentation (optional)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with cardiothoracic critical care expertise who meet Ascension Health’s comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
