Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)

Location: Winchester, Indiana
Facility: ININD St V Randolph Hosp (Ascension Health)
Employment Type: Travel Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
  • Serve as primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with healthcare team members.

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Must be AHA certified.
  • Nursys Verification – Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation.
  • Current Nursing License – Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics certification preferred; NRP Advanced required.
  • Ascension Pharmacology Exam – Must be completed prior to start and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% score).
  • Ascension Specialty Exam – Completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% or national benchmark).
  • Ascension Color Vision Test – Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly (minimum 80% score).
  • Ascension Fetal Monitoring Certification – Required if not covered on competency exam; must be current within past 2 years.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation – Must be completed prior to start.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding – Completed onsite prior to start.
  • Ascension Badge Photo – Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background.
  • Health Statement – Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Driver’s License/State ID – Must be current and valid.
  • MMR Vaccination or Positive IGG Titer – No declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test – Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination or Declination – Documentation required.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Must be current with required documentation.
  • Varicella Vaccination or Immunity Proof – No declinations accepted.
  • Tdap Vaccination – Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen – Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check – Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days prior to first assignment.
  • Ascension EPLS Check – Completed within 90 days prior to start.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist – Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Ascension Education Verification – Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment – Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.
  • Ascension Employment Verification – Third-party verification for past seven years; updated annually.

Optional / Additional Information

  • Influenza vaccine is recommended during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist is optional for onboarding but must be uploaded by unit leader.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation and Name Change Documentation are optional.

This position requires a highly qualified RN with labor and delivery experience, current certifications, and compliance with Ascension Health’s credentialing and onboarding requirements.
