RN Labor and Delivery - Long Term Assignment

Location: Cooperstown, New York
Specialty: Labor and Delivery (OB/LDRP)
Employment Type: Long Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12–13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Average Monthly Deliveries: 80–90 (varies by month)
• Unit Composition: Mix of experienced RNs and new graduates gaining OB experience
• Traveler Role: Essential support due to many new graduate RNs
• Unit Features:

  • 4 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms (each with private bath, shower, spa tub)
  • 8 postpartum rooms with refrigerators and fold-out couches
  • Operating rooms for Caesarean births
  • Special care nursery

Candidate Requirements

Experience

• Preferred: 3+ years OB experience
• Consideration: Candidates with less than 3 years may be accepted if they have prior travel experience or specialized OB setting experience

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification (AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring)

Scheduling & Coverage

• Travelers must work every other holiday, similar to full-time staff
• Holiday requests approved based on unit needs
• Additional night shift RN travel contract may become available

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid nursing license verification (Nursys)
  • BLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification
• Core Competencies and Unit Testing:

  • Bassett Core Competencies
  • Bassett Unit Exam
  • Bassett Skills Checklist
• Health and Safety:

  • MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza Vaccine, TB Test, Varicella, Fit Test
  • Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Physical/Health Statement
• Professional Requirements:

  • Driver’s License or State ID
  • 2 Professional References
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Resume and Employment Verification
  • Education Verification
  • Drug Screen
  • Security Credentials Acknowledgement and Confidentiality Agreement

• Shorter contract durations are not ideal due to coverage needs.
