Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia

Job Details

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
  • Unit: Medical Surgical Unit with remote telemetry and potential medical surgical diagnoses
  • Unit Size: 38 beds, average daily census of 33
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Systems Used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include:
    • New Year’s Eve and Day
    • Spring Break (no RTO)
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve and Day

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty or unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – check with recruiter for specifics

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance results in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 11 weeks = 11 hours)

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Photo ID: Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • State License: Must be valid and verified within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required)
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Flu Vaccine: Required or declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Competency Exams (Aya Requirements)

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (RNs and LVNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for Telemetry, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU) – maximum 3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
  • General Competency Exam for Nursing and Allied Health

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating required
  • No call requirements
  • Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not required by client)
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof in process)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a well-established medical surgical unit with a diverse patient population and a supportive team environment. Compliance with all documentation and competency requirements is essential for timely onboarding.
