Job Opportunity: RN PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience required.
  • Previous experience in a critical care environment, specifically PACU, is required.
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (4x10-hour shifts) with rotating days off.
  • Ideally 36-40 hours per week.

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for onboarding. Acceptable from AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military.
  • Professional Nursing License: Primary source verification required prior to submission. MA Conditional Licenses not accepted. Both NURSYS and Board of Nursing verification required.
  • Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state details. Required for submission.
  • References: Two recent references required, at least one must be a supervisor or above in the relevant skillset. Required for submission.
  • Skills Checklist: Required for submission.
  • Candidate Submission Coversheet: Required for submission.

Required Health and Safety Documentation (Onboarding)

  • N95 Fit Test: Must be completed within 365 days prior to start date and updated annually. No religious exemptions. Must use the specific MGB N95 Respirator Fit Test Record Form.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Immunity: Documentation of vaccination or proof of immunity via blood test required.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30). No exemptions allowed.
  • TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test within 3 months of start date. Updated if there is a break >6 months.
  • Health Statement: Physician statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break.
  • Criminal Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days prior to start date and updated if >6 month break. Includes county and international searches as applicable.
  • Massachusetts CORI Check: Must be run within 30 days prior to start date and updated if >6 month break.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation: Required if fit test is required. Must be completed prior to fit testing.
  • Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions upon acceptance.
  • Education Verification: Verified through background check company, confirming highest level of education.
  • SSN Trace: Must be run with criminal check, listing addresses/aliases for past 7 years.
  • National Sex Offender Check: Run within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Exclusion Checks: Run within 30 days of start and annually, including OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid exclusion lists.

Optional but Preferred Credentials

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination or Immunity
  • Tdap Vaccine: Within 10 years and updated upon expiration.
  • Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray: If applicable, documentation required.
  • TB Symptom Survey (if Positive PPD): To confirm no active symptoms of TB infection.

This position is ideal for experienced PACU nurses seeking a structured long-term assignment with consistent weekday shifts in a critical care setting.
