Job Opportunity: RN ICU (LTA)
Location: Oneonta, New York

Unit Overview
- Unit Type: ICU/SCU (Universal Care Unit)
- Unit Launch Date: July 1, 2025
- Bed Count:
- Starting with 4 beds
- Expanding to 8 beds by August 2025
- Unit Description:
- Universal Care Unit flexing between intermediate and critical care acuity
- Initially seeking critical care-trained nurses due to high-acuity patient potential
- Supported by tele-intensivist collaboration
Staffing & Patient Care
- Staffing Model:
- Primarily agency travelers at go-live
- Permanent staff hiring and onboarding to follow
- Support staff (CNA, HUC, etc.) are core facility employees
- Patient Ratios:
- Based on patient acuity
- Standard ratio is 4:1
- Nurses must be comfortable floating to units with different acuity levels
- Float Expectations:
- Travelers should be prepared to float to Med/Tele units during low census periods
Orientation & Training
- Hybrid orientation model in development
- Shadowing opportunities on inpatient units
- Potential ICU/SCU orientation at a nearby medical center to gain familiarity with EMR, equipment (e.g., pumps), and workflows
Required Skills & Experience
- Confident in basic medical critical care management
- Familiar with common drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Levophed
- Comfortable working in a startup environment
- Adaptable and open to process improvement (familiarity with PDSA cycles preferred)
- Confident in autonomous care and collaborative practice
