Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit (Neurosurgical)
• Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 48 (36 or 48 hours available upon request)
• Weekend Hours: As needed; standard expectation of every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Call Requirements: None
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (range 13-26 weeks)
• Requested Time Off: Up to 5 days per 13-week period can be automatically approved; additional time off requires leader approval and may need to be made up
• Holidays: Expected to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)

Required Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year inpatient acute care in Med Surg and Neuroscience
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required
• Skills:

  • Willingness to occasionally serve as Charge Nurse
  • Float within scope as needed
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5-6
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: FIT test required on site

Unit & Patient Population

• Focus on care of patients with neurological diagnoses including stroke, seizures, multiple sclerosis (MS), back/head/spinal issues, and neurosurgery procedures
• Patient care involves coordination with other departments and maintaining patient rights and confidentiality

• This position requires professional accountability for patient care and evaluation of care effectiveness by other caregivers
• The unit treats neuro-surgical patients and expects nurses to be adaptable and collaborative
