Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Assignment
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse
- Facility: Acute care hospital setting
Required Credentials & Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Must be AHA certified
- NIH Certification – Updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group
- CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course completed prior to start
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out – Completion of Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation
- Ascension Specialty Exam – Minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Ascension Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension EKG Exam – Passing score of at least 80%, updated as per latest edition
- Ascension Skills Checklist – Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen – Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
- Fit Test – Required annually; preferred prior to start
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding
- Ascension Nova StatStrip – Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
Licenses & Verifications
- Current RN License – Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys Verification – Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation
- Driver’s License/State ID – Must be current and match address requirements
- Ascension Education Verification – Verification of education within 90 days prior to start
- Ascension Employment Verification – Third-party employment verification for past 7 years
- Ascension Criminal Background Check – Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually
- Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) – Run within 90 days of start and rerun if break in service > 90 days
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella – Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
- Tdap – Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B – Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine – Required for flu season; exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Positive PPD or IGRA (TB Test) – Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest x-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA – Required within 1 year and 30 days of start
- Health Statement – Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Ascension Badge Photo – Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters
- Ascension Profile – Resume or professional profile submission
- Ascension 2 Professional References – At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment – Documentation of assignment dates on agency letterhead
- Ascension Name Change Document – If applicable, legal documentation of name change
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist – Optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader
Notes
- Some training and testing must be completed prior to assignment start; others may be completed onsite or updated annually.
- Multiple attestations and checklists are required to demonstrate competency and compliance with Ascension Health standards.
- Background checks, verifications, and drug screens must be current and maintained throughout the assignment.
This position offers a structured onboarding process with specific credentialing and compliance requirements tailored to ensure high standards of patient care in the ICU setting.
