Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Facility Type: Non-trauma facility, STEMI center, thrombectomy capable, behavioral health receiving
Work Schedule
- 3 shifts per week
- 12-hour shifts
Contract Length
- 26 weeks
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA provider card or RQI accepted; instructor card not accepted. Required for all candidates.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA provider card or RQI accepted; instructor card not accepted. Required for many units except OR.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Pediatrics, PICU, and ER Manager.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, NICU, Nursery, Postpartum, Mother Baby, Couplet Care.
- Chemo Certification: Required for Oncology.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor & Delivery.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ER, ICU units, Interventional Radiology, MS/Tele, PACU, PCU, Stepdown, Telemetry. Must be completed annually.
- State License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs within 30 days of start.
- Tech Cert Verification (if applicable): National certification required/preferred for certain tech roles.
Required Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal.
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting required prior to start; clearance must be on file. Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel plus nicotine test within 1 year of start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 6 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual updates required.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation).
- COVID-19 vaccination: 2 doses Pfizer or Moderna OR 1 dose Johnson & Johnson required; no declinations allowed. Medical/religious exemptions accepted with agency-approved documentation.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology administered during orientation for RNs/LPNs. Two attempts allowed per test.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams required as applicable.
- Core competency testing and HIPAA acknowledgment required.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 2 years required for travel and acute care positions.
- Employment application required.
- Annual skills checklist for applicable units.
- Facility issues radiation badges if applicable.
Notes
- Facility is thrombectomy capable and a STEMI center but is a non-trauma facility.
- Behavioral health patients are received at this facility.
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service.
- Compliance with all state and facility-specific policies is mandatory.
This position is ideal for RNs seeking a travel/contract role in a specialized cardiac and behavioral health environment with a structured orientation and compliance process.
