Registered Nurse - Telemetry Nights

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Telemetry (Nights)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days of RTO
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)

Certifications Required

  • Required: BCLS, NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
  • Preferred: ACLS, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable
  • Additional Certifications:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, with facility-specific renewal policies
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA or AAP
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - check unit description for requirement
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - if applicable
    • IV Certification (for LPN/LVN if applicable)
  • License Verification: Primary source verification required (NURSYS for Missouri licenses)

Job Requirements & Special Notes

  • Skills: Telemetry monitoring, reading rhythms, cardiac medications and drips (no titration)
  • Uniform: Blue uniform, navy scrubs, no artificial or nail enhancements, no crocs with holes
  • Work Schedule: Must work weekends and holidays
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Parking: Free
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital with 233 staffed beds

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
  • Education verification required before start
  • State-specific searches and fingerprinting may be required depending on assignment location
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Tdap vaccine or declination required (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination required (with no exemptions allowed in certain units)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)

Facility Policies & Documents

  • Must adhere to facility dress code, fingernail, and hand hygiene policies
  • Required to complete HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, and regulatory compliance education annually
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)
  • Must complete employment application and unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Additional Notes

  • Floating within scope is expected to meet facility needs
  • No block scheduling available
  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel position
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting and offers free parking

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac monitoring and telemetry unit responsibilities, who are flexible with floating and weekend/holiday shifts.
