Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Taos, New Mexico
Facility Type: Critical Access Facility, 18 beds


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years
  • First Time Travelers: Accepted
  • On-Call: Required
  • License: Pending licenses not accepted
  • Radius Rule: 75+ miles
  • Scrub Color: Any color allowed
  • Charting System: Evident
  • Parking: Free

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - can be obtained onsite within the first week
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Advanced NRP required for ER and LDRP RNs; online portion must be completed before start, in-person portion onsite
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ER
  • State License (NM) - must be current and displayed onsite
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs)

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
  • Background Check: 7-year criminal history, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screen not accepted)
  • Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit Mask Testing: Conducted onsite during orientation
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within past 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series and positive titer required; declinations accepted with positive titer and informed consent
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers
  • Flu Vaccine or Declination Form (required during flu season; unvaccinated must wear mask)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but highly recommended; declination form available

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Case Manager RNs)
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) - must be completed prior to start with a passing score of at least 80%
  • Skills Checklist (updated annually for applicable units)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Professional photo for badge (clear, close-up, solid background)
  • Completion of TB Questionnaire prior to start
  • Completion and signing of various facility policies and acknowledgments (Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Behavior Standards, IT Guidelines, Emergency Contact Information, etc.)
  • Orientation Attestation including watching required training videos
  • Influenza and COVID-19 declination forms if applicable

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Additional Notes

  • This is a night shift position in a critical access hospital with a 1:6 patient ratio.
  • PALS certification can be obtained onsite during the first week if not already held.
  • Onsite fit testing and NRP in-person training are required components of orientation.
  • Background checks and immunization compliance are strictly enforced.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
