Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel/Contract

Location: Houston, Texas

Job Details

  • Work schedule: 37.5 hours per week
  • Must hold a valid Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in Texas
  • Open to Clinical Fellows (CFs)
  • Patient population: Middle and high school students
  • Must be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • Texas SLP license
  • ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) required for SLPs (not required for School SLPAs)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
  • State Teaching Certificate and/or Credential as applicable
  • Educational Services - FERPA training (must be updated annually)
  • Mandatory Reporter training (General Training) must be completed prior to start
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP if applicable)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Transcript or diploma verification (BSN diploma or transcript if required by school)
  • Texas DPS Fingerprint Result Client Attestation required before start; fingerprinting handled by the school district
  • Arbitration Agreement (required, expires annually)
  • Emergency Contact Form and Equal Opportunity Employment (EOE) forms required

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Medical and Employee Information Release Form required
  • Physical exam, TB testing, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), drug testing, flu vaccination, and COVID-19 vaccination are not required by default but may be required by the client or state
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray and TB Questionnaire required if applicable (e.g., past positive TB test)

Additional Notes

  • Skills checklist required for clinical staff (including SLPs) prior to start
  • License, credential, and certificate verifications will be conducted twice: upon receipt of assignment and 30 days prior to start
  • Proof of name change required if documents are under different names

This position is ideal for SLPs who are comfortable working with school-aged children, have proficiency in ASL, and meet the licensing and certification requirements for Texas.
