Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Sedalia, Missouri

- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years Medical-Surgical nursing experience

- Licensure: Current Missouri or Compact RN license required
- Certifications Required at Time of Submission:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS: AHA or ARC accepted; renewals must be AHA only
- ACLS: AHA or ARC accepted; renewals must be AHA only
- Additional Certifications (if applicable to unit):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required for ED & PCU
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU, L&D, Mother-Baby units
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required for ED only
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – required for NICU, L&D, Mother-Baby units
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology competency and general competency exams required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Social Security trace, county searches for all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification for RNs
- Transcript/Diploma or highest level education verification required
- Missouri-specific searches (MO FCSR and MO EDL) required for placements in Missouri
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test with 3M N95 mask within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable for some, but not all)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with deadlines for vaccination and exemption submission
- COVID-19 vaccine is preferred but not required
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Proof of 2 professional clinical references within 2 years
- Completed employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Signed job description prior to start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- Some documents and forms are time-sensitive and must be submitted promptly (e.g., Missouri FCSR Worker Registration Form)
This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with current Missouri or compact licenses who meet the certification and health requirements and are comfortable working in a 1:4-5 patient ratio environment. First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
