Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
  • Schedule: Open to 3x12 or 4x12 shifts
  • Shift: Day shift (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years preferred (2 years may be considered)
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • C-EFM (Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring) through NCC (required; AWHONN acceptable as placeholder with registration for C-EFM course)

Preferred Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • STABLE
  • AWHONN

Required Skills and Experience

  • Circulating for C-section
  • LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience required
  • Proven experience in Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, and Couplet Care
  • Ability to float to Postpartum, Couplet care, and “feeder/grower” assignments in SCN (Level II NICU)

Preferred Skills

  • Triage experience
  • Proficiency in sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience in Baby Friendly hospital settings highly preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees
  • Magnet certified facility
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrubs provided

On-Call / Weekend Requirements

  • Every other weekend on-call requirement

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required
  • Physical exam annually, confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella documentation or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher) within 3 years of start
  • Color blind testing (online or in-person)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements for applicable units (updated annually)
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

References and Work History

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information
  • Minimum 2 years of employment in the past 7 years required (preferably most recent 2 years)
  • For travel contracts: at least 1 completed travel assignment or 1 month of per diem assignment

Facility Specific Notes

  • Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) required before hire date
  • Photo for badge must meet specific criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
