Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown Unit (HVTI-Stepdown)
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only, rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (HVTI-Stepdown)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- PCU/Progressive Care experience preferred but not required
- Licensing: Must have a permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- AHA BLS & ACLS
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
- Testing:
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test during orientation (passing score required)
Orientation & Onboarding
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
- Pass/Fail ECG & medication testing completed onsite during orientation
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed to meet operational needs
- Must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
Required Background & Compliance Checks
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI)
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- References: 2 references from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)
- Pass/Fail ECG & medication competency testing during orientation
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome
- Candidates with a break in employment greater than 6 months may be required to retake orientation/testing
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
This opportunity is ideal for experienced cardiac stepdown nurses licensed in Ohio or compact states, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive onboarding and compliance requirements.
