Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU / Interventional Radiology
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work primarily rotating between PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) and pre/post interventional radiology area within the PACU unit.
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, Monday-Friday, rotating start times between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
- 24 hours of on-call required per 6-week schedule period (as needed).
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:2.
- No weekend shifts required.
- No block scheduling accommodation.
- No local candidates accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility).
- Pending license accepted.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days.
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Experience & Certifications Required
- Minimum 1 year of critical care experience or experience from a Level I Trauma Center.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Ventilator management
- IV start
- Telemetry
- Must pass Relias EKG exam focusing on interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Epic electronic health record experience required.
Unit & Patient Details
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center.
- Patient population includes surgical patients recovering from GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive procedures, bariatric, ENT surgeries, and patients in a separate IR pre/post area.
- PACU nurses manage complex postoperative patients with multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia.
- Nurses may float within the service line as needed.
- No night or weekend shifts required but may be available depending on staffing.

Compliance & Requirements
- Government-issued ID required.
- Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks).
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification required prior to start.
- State-specific background checks and registries as applicable.
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray documentation
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and other facility-specific policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required and must be updated annually.
- Additional certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment.
