Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Facility: Stepdown Unit (HVTI-Stepdown)
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (HVTI-Stepdown unit)
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12's) only
- Shift Times:
- Day/Night rotating shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Shifts may be variable to meet operational needs; facility will try to honor preferences but reserves the right to rotate shifts
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- PCU/Progressive Care experience preferred but not required
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- Certifications required:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Must pass:
- ECG rhythm recognition test
- SafeMedicate medication test (completed during orientation)
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate tests are required during orientation; passing scores are mandatory
- Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication dosing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts)
Licensure & Background Checks
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fingerprints must be done under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
- Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- TB questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
Documentation & History
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Annual skills checklist required
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all nursing positions except OR
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- PAPRs may be approved on a case-by-case basis for mask fit failures due to religious or medical exemptions
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac stepdown nurses with required certifications and licensure who are comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts and meeting comprehensive onboarding and health requirements.
